Freezing Cold, Burning Soul

Fluorescent lights they shine, they blind
Gossip flowing through the cubicle vine
Break rooms, free coffee, searching for supplies
Watching as the calendar invites arrive
Walking around to get a glimpse out of a window
Gazing at the trees before returning to the unknown
We show up, we stay, we don’t really congregate
Is this the only way, is this our fate?
Is this what we’d choose if we had a choice?
When did we decide to lose our voice?
The perks, the benefits, the money
Find meaning somewhere, make it funny
Like a cast of characters acting out our different parts
Even corporate life can be a work of art
